Q.1 What is DNS.

Ans:-   Domain Name Server/System(DNS) are the internet’s equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a dictionary of domain names and translate them to internet protocol(IP) address.

The Domain name server/system (DNS) is the way that internet domain names are located and translated into internet protocol (IP) address

                The domain name system maps the name people use to locate a website to the IP address. That a computer user to locate a website. For example – www.target.com in to a web browser a server behind the scenes will maps that name to the IP address 206+.19.49.149.

Types:- .com, .gov, .edu, .in, .net,

Q.2 What is Web hosting.

Ans:- Web hosting is a Service that allow Organization and individuals to post a Website or Web page into the internet, A web hosting or web hosting service provider is a business that provides the technology and service needed for the website or webpage to be viewed in the internet website are hosted or stored on special Computers Called Servrs.

Types of Web hosting:-

There are Various types of web hosting.

v  Website Builders.

v  Shared hosting

v  Dedicated hosting.

v  Collocated hosting.

Q.3 What is Web Server ?

Ans:- A web server is a program that uses HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) to serve the Files that form web pages to users in response to their requests which are forwarded by their computer’s HTTP Clients.

All Computers that host website must have web server program. Leading web servers include Apache, IIS , FTP.

Q.4 Describe the working of DNS.

Ans:-  A user open a web browser and tries to connect to www.google.com. The operating system no knowing the IP address for www.google.com, asks ISP’s DNS server for this Information.

The ISP’s DNS Server does not know this Information, so it connects to a root server to fid out what name server, running somewhere in the world, know the information about www.google.com.
